Focus Kids / Organization App for Children

ABOUT FOCUS KIDS

Our app was designed to help high school students with ADHD and organizational challenges manage their learning in a clear, supportive, and engaging way.
It provides a structured space for managing tasks, organizing notebooks, using voice recordings, and adding visual learning tools, all tailored for students who think and learn differently.

This project was completed as a team effort together with two fellow students, Adva Vitman and Bar Twito.

GOALS

Messy learning environment.
Difficulty organizing study materials.
Trouble starting tasks on her own.
Inability to express knowledge in writing.
Gets overwhelmed with too much text.
Limited tools to support her learning style.

Help students like Roni feel in control of their learning.
Offer multiple ways to express understanding (drawing, voice, media).
Create an organized space that makes learning accessible.
Build confidence and independence.
Support preparation for lessons and tests.

User Persona

Roni is the inspiration behind this app. She's a bright, curious, and expressive teen who thrives when she's at the center of activity. She’s creative, sociable, and loves participating in class and extracurriculars like sports and art.

But Roni struggles with:

Physical and verbal disorganization.
ADHD – daydreaming, impulsiveness, difficulty starting tasks.
Expressing herself in writing
Keeping track of school materials.
Learning in environments without structure.

Despite these challenges, Roni has strong verbal understanding, a sharp memory, and excels in subjects with rich content and discussion.

Simple assignment tracking: allows students to easily track homework, upcoming tests, and assignments across different subjects.
Cross-device synchronization: users can access their homework list from multiple devices (phone, tablet, computer).

Limited depth: myHomework focuses mainly on task tracking and reminders but doesn’t offer content creation tools like note-taking, file uploads, or interactive features.
Premium features: ads-free experience and additional customization options require a paid subscription.

My Study Life – School Planner

Comprehensive planning: offers a dedicated planner for classes, assignments, and exams, supporting both online and offline access.
Academic focus: built specifically with school life in mind, addressing the needs of students juggling multiple subjects.

Limited reminders and notifications: the app’s reminder and notification system can be less robust compared to modern task management apps, leading to missed deadlines if users aren't consistently checking the app.

Limited collaboration features: lacks strong social or collaborative tools, making it harder for students to easily communicate or share progress with classmates and teachers.

OneNote

Advanced digital notebook: allows rich note-taking with options to insert text, images, audio recordings, drawings, and files.
Good collaboration: supports real-time multi-user editing, useful for group projects and shared notes.

Can create clutter and confusion: the large number of notebooks, sections, and pages can become overwhelming if not managed properly.
Requires self-organization: users must independently set up notebooks and lessons, similar to manually creating a separate notebook for each class.

PROBLEM → SOLUTION

Problem 1

Difficulty organizing personal study materials.

Solution

The app allows students to create notebooks by subject and lesson, with options to add text, drawings, images, videos, recordings, and scanned PDFs, keeping all materials organized and easily accessible.

Problem 2

Students forget to complete assignments on time.

Solution

The app displays assignments by date, tracks progress with color indicators (green/orange/red), sends reminders, and confirms successful submission.
